The first fragment awoke to the sound of thunder. She jerked herself up into a sitting position and looked around in fright at the roaring sound, but calmed down when she realized it was just a storm. Then she looked at herself and yelped.
"What the fu- WHY AM I NAKED?!?" She frantically searched for something to cover herself up with. The room around her was quite dim, dusty sheets covering old and unused furniture. The place was obviously abandoned. After snagging a sheet to use as a makeshift cloak, she wandered out of the door to inspect more of this strange building. There were few windows in the hallway outside, so she had to feel her way along, aided by the occasional flashes of lightning. She made her way along for several minutes, ignoring all the other doors, before stopping abruptly with a dumbfounded look on her face.

Huge columns of rock towered in against the sky, shadowing the trees far below. High up on the side of one of the pillars, something strange was happening. The air seemed to be bending and twisting, shimmering like a mirage. The shimmering became more concentrated, and the air split apart, revealing a vortex of bright colors. It was a magic portal, something not seen on the planet for a hundred years at least. Knowledge of them had been forgotten, or blotted out after the great war that had thrown the entire continent into chaos and claimed the lives of two out of every five, or so it was
